It isn't a question of RootsWeb "cracking down" on anything. Years ago...quite a few years ago in fact, RootsWeb switched over from the archaic SmartList system to MailMan to manage list mail. It isn't possible based upon the way MailMan functions to have a single address subbed in more than one mode. SmartList treated L and D modes as if they were separate lists. MailMan treats L and D mode as separate modes of the SAME list---and to prevent duplicate subscriptions the same address CANNOT subscribe to in both modes. So you haven't been subbed to digests for quite a few years if you had been using a single address to subscribe. I just checked a few of my other lists and the "admin" addresses are subbed (for me) as they always were...so somehow the one list I had checked before must have become unsubbed at some point...so all is well. That is how many admins get around the problems of not being able to subscribe a single address in both modes. Subscribe LISTNAME-ADMIN@rootsweb.com in D mode and since this forwards to your private email address you will receive both L and D mail at your preferred single address.
