I just wondered if anyone else is receiving some duplicated posts I thought it was just one sender on one list but its happening on another The posts are time stamped the same but although looking identical, one is larger than the other (21.2kb v 31.4kb in this case) Checking the archives, just one post -- Nivard Ovington in Cornwall (UK)
Nivard, I don't know what it means, but a short answer to your question is that I intermittently receive duplicate list posts on a fairly regular basis. I have no clue what causes it, nor do I know why it mysteriously stops after a period of timer, I just know the duplicates always have duplicated date-time stamps at the time. ☹ David E. This has only been happening the last few days The part I thought odd was the different sizes of the same messages I will just keep my eye on them if they happen again Nivard Ovington in Cornwall (UK) On 07/11/2018 19:38, David E. You get one personally and the one to the list. If you check carefully I'll bet you find one with the huge headers and footers that Rootsweb now adds to Every Single Post. At least that is one possibility. Valorie -- > Nivard Ovington in Cornwall (UK) > -- http://about.me/valoriez
Hi Valorie Thanks for the suggestion, but no, unless mailman has changed very recently, Mailman has always stripped out duplicates and in the cases I have the address is only the list If someone posts to the list and user email address, mailman only delivers one copy, let me know if you get two copies of this reply as I have addressed it to you and the list Nivard Ovington in Cornwall (UK) On 10/11/2018 05:13, Valorie Zimmerman wrote: > On Wed, Nov 7, 2018 at 7:55 AM Nivard Ovington <ovington.one@gmail.com> > wrote: > >> >> I just wondered if anyone else is receiving some duplicated posts >> >> I thought it was just one sender on one list but its happening on another >> >> The posts are time stamped the same but although looking identical, one >> is larger than the other (21.2kb v 31.4kb in this case) >> >> Checking the archives, just one post >> > > This happens in some mail clients when the sender hits "reply all" and you > are in the send line. I think the default for that setting is 'No', I never turn it on :-) In fact, of course, if a post goes direct and to the list and the above flag is set 'Yes', MailMan sends zero copies. The only copy received would be the direct copy. Malcolm. -- Malcolm Austen <malcolm.austen@weald.org.uk>
