    2. Hi Keith, Thanks for the reply - I did Google the term and found a multitude of options - I'm particularly interested in the option applicable to the Rootsweb Listowner options. I thought there might be some relevant help options but still not finding anything. I was hoping other Listowners new what worked for Banned Emails on Rootsweb. Regards ... So - (?i).*@vworkonline.biz - should do. Mailman2 alsways matches in a case-insensitive manner, Mailman 3 seems to be case-sensitive, so the initial (?i) forces case-insensitivity. You may try leaving it out as it will be rare for there to be upper case characters submitted. .* matches any string of characters Malcolm. -- Malcolm Austen <malcolm.austen@weald.org.uk>

Suzie, To stop sp*m messages from appearing in your HELD messages, use a HEADER FILTER. For example, on the Header Filters page in the Header box, enter "from:" without the quotes. in the Pattern box, enter ".*@vworkonline.biz" without the quotes. in the Action box, choose "Discard (no notification)" Save your changes. This syntax has worked for me and discards ALL messages originating from the specified domain (vworkonline.biz). Do not use it for addresses at commonly used domains such as aol.com, comcast.net, gmail.com, etc. since it will discard valid mails from subscribers and potential subscribers trying to reach the list or its manager (you). As Nivard noted, your Banned List prevents addresses from subscribing. It has nothing to do with Held Messages. Pat Asher

    3. are they subscribers? if not, why trying to ban non-subscribers when you can do something more simple. in settings - for message acceptance, change this one particular setting to "Discard - no notification" And as for "banned addresses", it should be reserved for the actual subscribers who make trouble for you. NOT for the spammers. They don't subscribe properly. The only true problems are those subscribers who do NOT follow through with the confirmation message and do not follow correct instruction for un*subscribe. They are real pain. From your description it sounds like its the "Banned addresses" But that only bans the address from subscribing, not from posting Nivard Ovington in Cornwall (UK) On 06/10/2018 23:14, Susie Zada wrote: > Hi Folks, > > For Listowners, can someone help me with the correct syntax for banned emails - where you enter > either the exact email address OR > > "use a regular expression to match similar email addresses" > > Many thanks in anticipation. > > Regards ...
