Hi Folks, Can anyone remind me of the latest status on Mailing Lists being archived. Were we supposed to notify Anne of lists that weren't being archived OR wait until the archives caught up with all lists OR were lists inactive for a period not going to be archived? Second question on the same subject - for lists that ARE being archived why would recent posts [today] not appear in the archives but an even more recent post [today] to another list instantly appear in the archives? Maybe I am misunderstanding what you mean by archives? I had a project in progress using the list archives back to the beginning (1996?) when you'll shut everything down. I these many months, I regularly push refresh on my search, with no change. Anne Does lack of use include google hits? I have found many very important clues and information on the archives over the years, left by people that stopped researching 20 years ago, but the information is still valid and useful. There has even been helpful souls adding obituaries from the newspapers and other tidbits of information that wasn't from their family just to help someone in the future. Randy, We will be restoring all the archives for this very reason -- there is a lot of good information about there. Restoration takes time, unfortunately. Lists that have no traffic in over a year will be disabled from receiving new email. There is a lot of overhead for every list, mostly due to lots of spam. If it is not in your lists on this page: https://lists.rootsweb.com/postorius/accounts/subscriptions/ It has likely been disabled. I was pretty much removing only lists without a verified owner. If you verified your email as owner before May 30th as requested, your list is probably fine. Lists without verified owners and no legitimate traffic are a different matter. Actually that list is working -- the archives just haven't been imported yet. I have been looking at the index of lists. Several of my lists are not even listed. LOVE is one of them. Maybe that is why I have 4 people having trouble subscribing to that list? I discarded a gateway post to Dixon list. It had good information but you say gateway is closed. but I also have message boards and nothing is happening there either. I can still go to them so that is a plus. I agree with you Anne, I went back 3 times thinking there were no replies to your broadcast. I have never seen anywhere forum board or even blog, where the number of replies weren't indicated.
