I am basically reading the LO posts and not understanding much at all. Still wondering if I should just toss in the towel. Lists and boards. I gather that the gateway is closed and will not open again. Yet on my Russell board I find this: Posts to this board are copied to the “RUSSELL-L " RootsWeb.com mailing list. Will that be removed? Even that is backwards, isn’t it. I thought list was gatewayed to board but board messages just stayed on the board and didn’t go to the list. Or did I remember that wrong too?. Now I am blindly rejecting posts from non subscribers and I can’t even read the message to see if they could be relevant or not?? If they were genealogy I could tell that person to please subscribe to the board and post there. My mother said “ confusion reigns supreme” I think it does Mary --- This email has been checked for viruses by Avast antivirus software. https://www.avast.com/antivirus
Hi Mary The footer messages are being worked on although all I am seeing on posts is the generic footer messages The gateway was from Board to list I wouldn't *reject* any posts that are held, as you are alerting the spammers that the address exists Instead use discard But on held messages, you can click the blue title of the message to read it, and accept or discard from there Most I find are spam so discard If you find its a relevant post from someone but from an address not subscribed, you need to open a new email, copy the subject line and message into the email and give a reason for it not being accepted onto the list Its a lot of faff that we shouldn't need to do but its what we have at present Nivard Ovington in Cornwall (UK) On 18-Apr-18 4:48 PM, Mary Russell wrote: > I am basically reading the LO posts and not understanding much at all. > Still wondering if I should just toss in the towel. What we have at present is to post to the list and have folks re register to rw. This might help with the non member being caught. I have had several who were being caught register yesterday and posted since. I noticed the 2 who posted were not caught again. Send them the home page directly. Discard obvious spam. Mary. On the held messages. Click the subject box and you will be able to read the message and headers. Never reject. Use discard . Reject sends the spammer a real message. This advertising can just get rw more spam. Thank you for the help. I spoke wrong , I am discarding posts and not rejecting them. I think after awhile I will “get it” and move on . If I ever remember how to post to one of the boards I run..... I will send messages suggesting that people join the lists. would there be a problem with this message? Messages to the board are shown only on the board. If you choose you can also join the genealogy surname list. [email protected] Just send the word 'subscribe Being old is not easy~!
