You got a bargain at $50 for a domain name, I was told it was $200. Guess it pays to shop around, or, is this the difference between a "registered" one and an unregistered one? I know people would feel more free to donate if they SMP> were clear on this matter. Brian Leverich, the owner of rootsweb.com, has always said it is a commercial for-profit company. Note that just because a website has a .org extension does not mean it is a not-for-profit company. Pretty much *anyone* can register *any* unregistered domain name for $50/year. For example, I hold "nozell.com" -- there is no company behind it. I could also have registered "nozell.org" or "nozell.net". -marc -- Marc Nozell <marc@nozell.com> http://www.rootsweb.com/~nozell (genealogy stuff)
