Marie- Yes...and if the problem continues you may wish to review all requests to subscribe and place new subscribers on moderation until you feel you can trust them. I don't suggest this as a PERMANENT solution but it may be needed temporarily. Joan In a message dated 12/1/2011 1:08:07 P.M. The person who posted the message that angered this guy has been placed on moderation and has been behaving himself. The angry guy (who was on permanent moderation because of his penchant for criticizing folks on the list) sent me twenty-four irate emails in a three day period of time - sixteen of them in a six-hour time span. He complained to the HelpDesk and demanded that RootsWeb remove the mailing list entirely. IMHO, a really over-the-top reaction on his part. This guy has subbed to my list with eight or more other email addresses over the past few months in an effort to circumvent moderation, and now he's doing so to circumvent being banned from the list. He has a very distinctive writing style that reflects his personality, so it's pretty easy to tell when it's him subbing under a new address. Generally what he does is sub and post a complaint or jump into an existing discussion and start a debate. Anyway, whatever email address he uses and whatever name he signs his messages with, the IP address is exactly the same in the message headers. Would it be within my rights as admin to unsub and ban these other addresses as well? -Marie
