Yes Joan As I said in my original post ;-) It was just meant to be a light hearted post and not to be taken too seriously At one time peoples computer clocks would go back to zero when the battery died or they simply hadn't reset their clock accurately, these days we don't often see the problem as its mostly automatically updated Nivard Ovington in Cornwall (UK) On 03/09/2018 14:42, Joan Young via LISTOWNERS wrote: > Seems to me the goofy dates we used to see in the archives were due to incorrect dates on the posters' computers. I seem to have stepped into a time warp or fell through a black hole ;-) The listowners archives show a year of 2094 ! Apparently someone has posted in July 2094, thats quite some feat And one of my lists shows 2026 & 2025 as well as 2018 backwards I assume this is the age old problem of people posting with faulty or inaccurate computer clocks I see my archives are now back to January 1990 ;-) again quite some feat to achieve :-) Nice to have them back, if only they were more usable (with email addresses ;-) (yes Anne I know we won't get them back but you can wish can't you) -- Nivard Ovington in Cornwall (UK)
Indeed Rick As I said in my original post We don't often see the problem now due to better technology Whether it would still do the same if the posters computers clock was out I don't know, probably Nivard Ovington in Cornwall (UK) On 03/09/2018 14:00, Richard Berkheiser wrote: > If I remember correctly these goofy dates we see in the Archive go back to > the old Smartlist set up and then they carried over to Mailman. > > Rick B

Wish away, but emails in the message are never going to happen. :-) We are aware of the 2094, and will try and address it at some point. On the bright side, you have been added to the Staffordshire list. Nivard, I share your pain. I rented a Mercedes 260 in South Africa in March. The thing had GPS, but it did not know the time. I never figured it out. Something like depress the accelerator when the car in on but not running, then hit the radio volume button three times within seven seconds. Seems to me the goofy dates we used to see in the archives were due to incorrect dates on the posters' computers. Some would show 1900 or other impossible dates because the poster's computer thought it was 1900 instead of 2000.
