Hi Dan, what list is this on? Have you checked that the account that this subscriber posted from IS subscribed? People often get email in one account and post from another, sometimes without noticing. I've done it myself, because I have my old [email protected] email forwarded to my gmail. While you are checking that the person is subbed, have you also checked the options for their account? This for instance is where you would moderate someone. If you don't mention the list and the subscriber and their email accounts, how can Anne check into it? This would be better handled in an email to her with all the details since you will not want to mention your subscriber by name or email *here*. [email protected] is the address. > We the admins, ( can't solve this) its something stuck in the main > administration pages or programming codes the service is not functional. > Volunteers have more to do than play with this. > I have been up n down and all over the tools we are offered, something is > missing. > One is able to see all message by those held up. > We all can help, but the task is calling for us to work a miracle. > A subscriber getting messages, can't post because they are not a subscriber? > Come on folks? > Dan Sorry to say that happens all the time. And this is the sort of issue that isn't suitable for this list, since your fellow listowners can only suggest strategies to help, but not intervene technically as Anne can. I made a private post to a few and made a list post noting the address being caught that .. we're not subscribed... Even tho subscribed they are getting caught. Anne suggested to change thier default settings to skip rules so have also done that and am waiting reply to see if it works. After I wrote my first reply here, I decided to check my *own* settings on my own lists. Guess what? In *every* list I checked so far, in spite of setting universally "do not hide my address" -- they were all set to hide my address. And more serious and angering, they have been set 100% at "default processing." Yes, DEFAULT which we know and have been officially told does not work. So now I'm going through each of my lists, one by one, to check and change those settings. This should have been done before the lists were rolled out, but I guess I can't cry over spilled milk. Instead, get out the mop. Valorie On Thu, Apr 12, 2018 at 3:16 PM, Anne Burgess via LISTOWNERS <[email protected]> wrote: > I have done that. Not a lot different than what? Last year we were all trying to set up our lists to that version still then everything dies and we start over. Since no one has a concrete knowledge of how things work its going to be awhile. Just like learning new html editors or setting up a bbs or when I installed the phpged to my website for people to have a place for free ancestry took a long time. I know. But as long as we follow up with suggested trials maybe they will figure how to make it work and if none of us gets frustrated to much we all learn together. We are all experiencing a change. We just experienced one not many months ago. I got deep in working on websites and the new change, and constant working on settings that don't work just hit a nerve. I was working on a free ancestry php ged for folks to use free. Plus some bbs pages. When one writes a book and gets interrupted, changes the story and out come. Same for programming. The lists are important to me, I have a few, most I started in 1998 or so. I would like to do what even it takes to get things fixed for folks. I have a few I am working with helping me test the settings and then, poof! Nothing works, poof, I spent time off my other project and stayed up all last night catching it up and my wife working on the calming nature of my inboard gremlins, grrr, so yes, I am trying to be polite as possible because I am. Some yogi tea this morning and I got my one webpage done, so can spend time here before I think about another web page. So, in all smoothness, I get a note from my SC for Oregon gen web saying the ( rootsweb search engine is broken) and we need to replace it. So, in between this n that I will have more tea. Thanks Ian. We all are in this together. Dan
I been reading and watching all going on and even following up on suggestions. How ever. the certain addresses being caught are still caught, no matter what. So, I figure, maybe the mail man security is up to high? Just a thought. I don't see much reason to be up too high since we have the catch to approve it it deny it? Dan
broken web page http://seeker.rootsweb.com/cgi-bin/htsearch Lots of us have to re do web pages unless this is fixed or denied? I have found a non rootsweb search engine in this case? Dan
