Anne, I am noticing a pretty fair number of legitimate incoming list posts from subscribers getting caught in the "Held Messages" filters. Obviously, I can and do simply "accept" them, but I shouldn't have to. I cannot give you the name of a single specific list that it happens on because there are several of them so far, but maybe that is something on the engineers' "to do list." I hope so. FWIW, It first became known when someone posted a number of "Test" messages to a list, and my first reaction was a happiness that you found a filter to stop test messages, but now I am not so sure such was the case. David E. Cann [email protected]
Most lists are set up so that only members posts will go through; non members have to be approved. And that is how it should be. And if you can't give me a specific list to look at where this is happening, I can't solve it. On Mon, Apr 9, 2018 at 8:41 AM, David E. Anne, I know the filters are supposed to let proper posts through as you stated, but they don't always do it and that is the problem. I will start sending you a list of them as they occur then, but it is not just not a single list. Do you want me to approve the post in each case, or leave them in Held Messages for you to see each time? Thanks. David E. I wouldn't bother sending them to me each time. Just approve what should be approved. Anne On Mon, Apr 9, 2018 at 9:07 AM, David E. Anne, There are now NINETEEN MESSAGES waiting in my "Held Messages" queue, all of which are the first messages you asked us to send to our lists. All were sent in text format, without attachments, and I sent them all myself and I am subscribed to all of my lists, wo what is causing this. AM I GOING TO HAVE TO KEEP DOING THIS WHEN I SEND THE REST OF MY MESSAGES TO MY LISTS? I will leave them where they are so you can look at them, but there is one in each of the following lists: ALABAMA AL-CEMETERIES AR-CEMETERIES BEEM BRADFORD BREWSTER BRITISH-MARINERS CANADA-CEMETERIES CANN CAN-NB-CARLETON CAN-NB-CEMETERIES CAN-NB-VICTORIA CAN-NEWFOUNDLAND CAN-NF-CEMETERIES CAN-NF-OBITS CAN-NS-ANNAPOLIS PLEASE LET ME KNOW what is going on with this before I resume the rest of my messages to my lists, and also what can be done to fix this. Read the headers. Could be html. Could have attachment. Something was caught. Investigate before approval. Dan On Mon, Apr 9, 2018, 8:42 AM David E. People should not do tests. Just note the list every one getting mail to send a query's message. When I wrote my lists request everyone to post. 2/3 were query and some were reply to mine. At any rate I found many who posted ended up in the held messages as not a subscriber. I wrote to those with the bounced address and ask them if they would directly reply to the message with reply to list address. Worked so far. One from yahoo had 2 attachments unknown to the members. I suggested check send as plain text and try again. It worked. Dan On Mon, Apr 9, 2018, 8:42 AM David E.
