    3. Joan, nope, it's quite different situtation. I was never unsubbed during that time. I was able to receive every post (already reviewed archives), just that outgoing side that was a problem temporarily. If there were any during that time, they were bounced right back as undeliverable. It was only one message and that prompted me to send a message direct to you, alerting to the problem and you had to get into your AOL spam folder to rescue my messages at least twice. the Question about Discard and Hold was well after the problem with outgoing was resolved. I didn't send any to listowners-admin the whole time. That is why I asked if Discard was the default after you mentioned it and I was criticized for asking this question despite the fact I never knew about this feature before and every one of 21 lists I have has that setting to "Discard" since I know I did not change that setting myself at all. There is NO option - nor should there be - to "discard all mail to list admin." If that's what you want to do, then that's a pretty fair indication that you've burned out and it's time to put them all up for adoption. There is a certain amount of administrivia....and a certain amount of the administrivia is crap, admittedly....to being a list admin. There's a reason admin mail isn't spamfiltered: because every once in a while there's legitimate mail from a legitimate subscriber, or wants-to-subscribe-er, that gets trapped in spam filters. And RootsWeb doesn't want to lose that correspondence. Nor should you, if you're truly adminning the list. If it's just too much to deal with, the solution is simple: put your list up for adoption. There is nothing keeping you from being just as active as ever on the list, doing just as much genealogy as ever on the list, even leading discussions on the list, without being the admin. If you choose to keep the list, then the correct response is to "cowboy up" (or "cowgirl up"), admit that a small percentage of the work is distasteful but that you still want the job anyway, kwitcherbitchin and admin the list. It is what it is - which is what it ALWAYS has been. Bitching about it just sours other peoples' moods without solving any problems on your end. So in the words of the immortal Yoda.... Do or do not. But whatever your choice, don't whine about it on this list. :) --pig, admin ------------------------------- To unsubscribe from the list, please send an email to LISTOWNERS-request@rootsweb.com with the word 'unsubscribe' without the quotes in the subject and the body of the message

    3. The bizarre part for me is how many problems some List Admins seem to have. I've hardly ever had any issues at all, and the only "Maintenance" I have to do is to review the lists and approve those appropriate for the list, and remove those that aren't.
