When I click on start a new thread, it takes to me a page that says I need to sign up, create a new password, etc. I thought you only needed to do this once. Do I need to do this for every list I am subscribed to? This whole process is very confusing and the documentation on Rootsweb very lacking. If I want to send a message to the Behymer list, is the process the same as before, i.e., send an E-mail to [email protected]? Are you trying to reply to a post in the archives? I've never tried to do this before, but evidently if you are logged in you can do it. So, were you logged in? You will have to login every time you restart your browser, I believe. If you subscribed to or administered lists using more than one email account, you need to link those accounts so that one login does it all. On this helpful page: https://mailinglists.rootsweb.ancestry.com/lists/listsHelp you will see: Adding multiple emails to an account which leads you to https://mailinglists.rootsweb.ancestry.com/lists/multiEmailAccount The best way to post is [email protected] as it has been for a long time. No -L or -D is needed, and it just confuses people. Hope this helps, Valorie -- http://about.me/valoriez

    3. Jules, Just a thought, but keep in mind that Anne announced some weeks ago that any lists shown as NOT owned by a List Owner with a NEW CURRENT REGISTRATION since 1 March would be taken back and made adoptable to others ON 30 APRIL. I am only guessing here, and do not know any more about that issue than just that, but can that be the cause of your problem here? Think this was one of the very first mentioned things to do after mailman 3 was installed. You can go to the main page of rootsweb and find those directions. 1. [LO]Posting to List
    2. Maybe someone will find this useful. I had to find this out by trial and error. To send a message to your list, you need to address it to "list"@rootsweb.com where "list" is the name of your list without the quotes. For example, to send to the Behymer mailing list, I send to [email protected] Prior to the conversion, to post to the list, I would have sent to [email protected] The "-l" was the cause of the problem.

    3. I had the same problem (archives not found) on one of my lists.  I just sent a test message to the list and it now works: https://lists.rootsweb.ancestry.com/hyperkitty/list/[email protected]/ Interesting, since I have other lists with no posts for 8 years and their archives work fine. I understand you figured out how to post to the list, so maybe all is good now. Mike On 5/2/2018 9:27 AM, [email protected] wrote: > When I go to the Behymer mailing list and click on Archives, I get an error message "Not Found" There doesn't appear to be any way for me to Start a New Thread on the list that I manage. 3. Avg ad links can be turned off if you want to. Takes a little reading to find out how. If a person is just a little good at programming you can see what is inside the avg footer. Little more than the eye sees up front. I turned mine off when I was using it. Not sure about the other footer mentioned. But on or off is a choice if someone wanted it off. Most folks like to let others know they have it tho. Not anything I ever worried about. 3. As you are aware we often get advertisement at bottom of these mails generated by the use of free, anti viral things mainly, AVG is a classic at advertising themselves and I cannot see where your lister is going to cause you one problem you answered your own question when you say you are #becoming paranoid, you know this lister she is long time I cannot even see why you moderated her, she is not responsible for her free programme adding in advertisements, if it was a broad advertisement for a night out with a pretty girl then sure I would moderate and sort out something but as they come from ROotsweb Ancesty IPADS AVG TELSTRA and the list goes on, David. I would leave my loyal lister alone. My thoughts Cara -----Original Message----- From: David E. Cann Sent: Thursday, May 3, 2018 5:15 AM To: Listowners List Posting Subject: [LO]Commercial ad defaulted in a message body I have not had something like this in a very long time, but I just had an otherwise proper post from a subscriber whose service provider domain in Juno. They are a free service, or at least they were 20 or so years ago when I used them FOR FREE, but I finally switched to my current ISP for this very reason, to eliminate the ads on my mail. My question now though is, can or should I properly ask her to "stop advertising" on the list under these circumstances? I tend to border on paranoia when it comes to spam, but IS THIS SPAM and what if anything can our should I do about it that is fair and proper for all concerned? How can I do what is right on both sides of this issue? She is a long time subscriber (though very rarely posts) now on moderation, but doesn't know it yet.
