Nivard, I share your pain. I rented a Mercedes 260 in South Africa in March. The thing had GPS, but it did not know the time. I never figured it out. Something like depress the accelerator when the car in on but not running, then hit the radio volume button three times within seven seconds. You really don't need one. When you manually unsub somebody from your list tools you'll see it confirmed on that page once you click Unsubscribe. Today, I unsubbed a lister. When I did this in the "olden" days, I received an unsub confirmation from Rootsweb. I've yet to receive one today in my inbox or spam catcher, so I'm wondering if I will now only receive unsub confirmations when listers unsub themselves, i.e., I won't receive a confirmation when I perform the unsub. Tracey, I didn't have BIG problem, but did ask if anyone knew anything about the company. Apparently, a few of my subscribers had dealings, some pleased, some displeased. Of the responses I got, none were of a testimonial nature. Some had indicated the information they received was already available, but a few did say they got leads or something of value. I have a few Missouri newspaper items (mainly CLARY, COWAN, CRAIN, CRANDALL) at my web site. http://www.geocities.com/MotorCity/1949 The State Historical Society of Missouri has the state well covered and their charges are reasonable for lookups. http://www.system.missouri.edu:80/shs/ For AL, I know there is a site which lists current newspapers which have genealogy columns, but not any that cover the entire state for older items. Refer to my web site for "decoding" MIME. Many mailers, ISPs, etc., convert messages for a myriad of reasons. One caveat, there are also programs that encode using "UUCODE" which have at least 3 versions I'm aware of; however, the directions at the bottom of my web page should work for most. Many go and download the software to open, but it doesn't work. I have one man who has lost all the messages for August, because of this.
