That date problem was once described on this list as being due to something like this: If the computer of the person who is posting thinks it is Feb 7, 2067, then that year and month is used to create the date links in the archives. Interestingly, the person who made the post can delete the post from the archives, but the list admin cannot. If I remember right many on the list thought that was the way it should be. If all the posts in a year-month link are deleted I don't know if that gets rid of the faulty year-month link. Yes, that's what it looks like is happening. Thank you, I understand what is going on. Strip out the date 2018/10/ <https://lists.rootsweb.com/hyperkitty/list/south-africa.rootsweb.com/2018/10/> and you have a link that will always go to current messages. I think. P.P.S. Good grief, I'll get this right, yet. I went to this link: https://lists.rootsweb.com/hyperkitty/list/south-africa.rootsweb.com/ and it automatically changed to this link: https://lists.rootsweb.com/hyperkitty/list/south-africa.rootsweb.com/2018/10/ which is what took me to the current month and year. P.S. And, yes, some of the dates are absurd. I went to this link: https://lists.rootsweb.com/hyperkitty/list/south-africa.rootsweb.com/2018/10/ and by default, it takes you to the current month and year, but if you look over to your left, you have the option to choose an earlier month and/or year. You understand correctly. If you want the link to the most recent archives it is: https://lists.rootsweb.com/hyperkitty/list/south-africa@rootsweb.com/ You can see that link under "the archives" on this page: https://lists.rootsweb.com/postorius/lists/south-africa.rootsweb.com/ Mike On 10/21/2018 6:23 PM, Keith Meintjes wrote: > I notice that the link to "browse or search the archives" for my list is: > > https://lists.rootsweb.com/hyperkitty/list/south-africa.rootsweb.com/2018/10/ > > Yes, the year and month is embedded in the link. I notice that the link to "browse or search the archives" for my list is: https://lists.rootsweb.com/hyperkitty/list/south-africa.rootsweb.com/2018/10/ Yes, the year and month is embedded in the link. I checked this by going to .../2018/09, and, yes, it goes to September 2018. So, if I bookmark the current link, it will be out of date next month? If that is true, in a couple of years my link will take me to messages that are two years old. I would expect the link to not change, and to always take me to the most recent messages, with messages sorted newest to oldest. As I said, I think this is an odd way to do it. Unless the person who was appointed admin is on this list and sees your post....Your only course of action is to contact Anne and let her know. Step 1: Send an e-mail to /kybiographies-owner@rootsweb.com/ and see if anybody responds or if perhaps the e-mail goes to you. I know Anne is swamped so thought maybe one of you could help. All of a sudden, one of the lists I'm the owner of - KYBIOGRAPHIES - has stopped showing me as the owner and I am unable to post to it. It is a closed list which means I need to release the post to the subscribers. I am now only shown as a subscriber. I've managed this list since the 1990's. How do I become the owner again? Thanks! Thank you Darlene! I'm fairly certain the pop-up in GMAIL occurs when the incoming email has a suspicious item, in this case, an email from an email sent to RootsWeb. I have far too many email groups to use Postorius, checking each group individually, so rely on email notifications. Thanks, again, all for your input. I got that warning today. First time I've seen it, but I don't usually look at the message this way. I use the Postorius console under Held Messages directly. I use Kaspersky for antivirus, etc. Using GMAIL. Checked several older emails for Held Messages and no problems. This is part of the header for the one with the warning. My telepath.com email and website were discontinued by Earthlink. I had to change to earthlink addresses. But the cost went from $25 a month to $9 for 6 email addresses. I only use one of them for Rootsweb mail lists. Gene At 06:04 PM 10/20/2018, Mary Richardson wrote: >Netcom was bought by Mindspring. Then Mindspring was folded into Earthlink. My netcom address is a grandfathered Earthlink address. Until yesterday, I hadn't received any Listowners or Rootsweb Help posts for some time.
