It does NOT always happen, and when it does it does NOT always work the same way. Yet another thing to be aware of, and to deal with as necessary, nothing more as far as I can see. Darrell

    2. If you didn't subscribe to the list you wouldn't have been able to post a message to the list and you wouldn't be receiving the mail...so somewhere along the line you DID subscribe. 3. It may have something to do with what was happening to the RW servers this weekend as can be seen by the various messages being discussed here and on the Board owners lists, too. Apparently, the problems seem to have been resolved, so hopefully things will be back up and working correctly shortly. 3. Good morning, David, I was going to reply and say that I had gotten messages at Earthlink from Rootsweb...but then noticed your message was sent on Friday morning...and I am only just now seeing it when I get up. I will say that I am rarely online on Saturdays so I would not notice anything spectacular there. I did get Rootsweb mail yesterday so again nothing unusual. In looking back in my deleted messages, I do see where I did (near as I can tell) not get any messages on Friday. Anyways, all appears back to "normal" although I do understand that normal is relative! LOL Lainee -----Original Message----- From: David E. 3. Something shut them down Thursday night. Now the messages are flooding since this late afternoon, am still seeing some dated last Friday, others yesteday. I suspected something was wrong early Saturday morning and inquired Joan Y. off list. She confirmed something was wrong with the servers. 3. Rootsweb went down 10 PM central Thursday Did not come back up until about 2PM Today (sunday) Last time down for a while it took over a day to catch up on the queue. If it works like last time new current posts will go through and the older ones will come later. -----Original Message----- From: Diana Gale Matthiesen DianaGM@dgmweb.net I sent messages to two of my lists about five hours ago, and neither has come back. 3. The headers on your message show a 7 hour internal delay within rootsweb: Received: from lists2.rootsweb.com (lists2.rootsweb.com [127.0.0.1]) by lists2.rootsweb.com (8.13.8/8.13.8) with ESMTP id q7D4MxLB014690 for <vanes002@umn.edu>; Sun, 12 Aug 2012 22:24:27 -0600 Received: from mail3.rootsweb.com (mail3.rootsweb.com [192.168.26.64]) by lists2.rootsweb.com (8.13.8/8.13.8) with ESMTP id q7CLVe0U010953 for <LISTOWNERS@lists2.rootsweb.com>; Sun, 12 Aug 2012 15:31:40 -0600 So there seems to have been some internal issue that has been resolved. 1. [LO] List member keeps reporting problems getting and sending mail
    2. Christina Hunt
    3. I have a listmemeber who periodically reports list problems. I tried unsubbing and re-subbing him a few weeks ago. It seemed to help at first. Now he said he has not gotten email from my list sent a couple of days ago and an email sent to another list did not show up. He sent a test message to my list over an hour ago and it has not come to me or the list archives. I looked at the headers in a message to me and found: Received-SPF: fail (google.com: domain of membername@utvinternet.com does not designate 213.233.128.45 as permitted sender) client-ip=213.233.128.45; Authentication-Results: mx.google.com; spf=hardfail (google.com: domain of membername1@utvinternet.com does not designate 213.233.128.45 as permitted sender) smtp.mail=membername@utvinternet.com (I removed his email from this) Granted this is the Gmail response and I did get the message, but wondering if RW is also getting this and it is causing problems? I have another list member with the same ISP who does not report these issues. I have asked about his Spam Folder and so forth. Just wondering if anyone has a thought. Chris

    1. [LO] Problem with an associated website
    2. Bradford H Miter
    3. Hi, I know this is not a pure List problem. My NY-TROY-IRISH-GENSOC list also sponsors a website at RootsWeb which in the last day or so has been hacked and one or more URL's to a site in Russia plugged in. Access to RootsWeb for their websites has not yet replied to our problem inquiry of this morning other than to acknowledge its receipt. If any list owner has had a similar experience, I would appreciate hearing from them off list. Thank You, Brad Miter TIGS List Admin
