I sent the message on how to register with the new Mailman software to all of my lists last night. It seems there are ads on the page that are confusing the subscribers. If they click one of these ads, they are told to pay money to register, and / or that they have to download new software. None of which is true. This does not seem exactly ethical of RootsWeb / Ancestry to have allowed such misleading ads on the registration page. I have been getting comments and complaints all day from my subscribers. Wendy, Thanks for your reply. I did try on the Ancestry side, but saw no link to message boards from Ancestry.com. So I went back to the Message Boards link at Rootsweb, and then noticed the "Admin Center" link at the left of the bottom of the page. I clicked on that, which took me to the familiar board administrator interface. The offending message has been deleted. -- Thanks, Mary On 4/7/18 6:17 PM, Wendy Howard wrote: > Have you tried accessing the boards from the Ancestry side? > > Ancestry > Help > Message Boards > Admin Centre (link at the bottom of the > page) > > Wendy > > On Sun, Apr 8, 2018 at 9:36 AM, Mary D. For some of the mailing lists that I manage, I also manage the paired message board. It used to be the case that when I logged in to Rootsweb with my old account, I could easily manage both the lists and the boards from the old page that listed both and gave me the links to the Admin logins for all. Now that I have a new account for the new mailing list system, I don't seem to have any way to get to my message board admin tools. I need to do that now because reviewing a held message from the message board gateway (using View Source) alerted me to the fact that the new message board post was asking for money. So I need to find a way to delete the post. I did report abuse on it until I can access that tools page. If any of my fellow list admins know the secret of getting access to their message board admin interfaces, please let me know what you did. I sure hope it doesn't require logging out of the new account and logging back in to the old account -- if I even remember what that password was. -- Thanks, Mary
Does anyone on here admin this list? I've just found a query in my junk folder from one of my subscribers who is having trouble subscribing to this list - says it's pending but nothing has happened although he says he's followed the instructions. Lin
Yes, that's where I remember it seeing were there was a list I could check and see what preferences I have at a glance - that grid isn't there now just a page of options for them all not individual lists. Hi Anne, Thank you for all the work you're putting in to these mailing lists. :-) I received an email this morning for one of my lists telling me there was a post waiting for approval, and I saw that these have been updated with a link to take me straight to the page I needed to be at.
