It was just a glitch. I had slid over the touch pad and triggered a deletion and did not notice what it did till it was gone. I fixed it, meantime, the missing messages were found in the inbox. Just let every one know, I am not better than any one else lol. Sorry for that distraction. I have to be careful of dropping my thumb while typing ;( On 04/12/2018 12:02 PM, Anne Gillespie Mitchell wrote: > Are your lists getting traffic? Check their options. In the subscriber list, click on Member Options next to their name. Scroll to the bottom. In the administration options box, you will see a drop-down next to moderation. This is my main rootsweb admin address. Has not had a message since 4-8-2018. Is there a Problem? Dan
I am not going to keep going to moderator request page and keep trying to fix the problem. I see messages of conversation between list members held as non members. We the admins, ( can't solve this) its something stuck in the main administration pages or programming codes the service is not functional. Volunteers have more to do than play with this. I have been up n down and all over the tools we are offered, something is missing. One is able to see all message by those held up. We all can help, but the task is calling for us to work a miracle. A subscriber getting messages, can't post because they are not a subscriber? Come on folks? Dan
Have not seen any logistics for subscribed members who are caught in the held messages. I had a cousin keep posting yesterday while I checked headers and list setting and member setting. Still trapped. Has to be something in the main administration control setting or a blacklist?? Thats a question just to explain its not an accusation. On Thu, Apr 12, 2018, 10:37 AM David E. While back I posted the mailman link to the list. Might be some answers in there. I know a person who writes code for mailman. He said we are in for the ride trying to mix ver 2 and 3 the fields are in mixed python and linux and best to start from scratch with the newer version and re create the lists. But then he does not know the stuff been going on but might be able to help? Nivard, I have NO scientific information to point to other than long-term observation, but based solely on that I think I agree with you. With RW claiming "enhanced security" as a major reason for spending all of the time and this current upgrade and change though, deep down I have hopes they will do it. This initial situation though does not make it look very hopeful. ☹ David -----Original Message----- From: Nivard Ovington <[email protected]> Sent: Thursday, April 12, 2018 1:09 PM To: [email protected] Subject: [LO]Re: spammer I have never seen any evidence that reporting spammers addresses to rootsweb had any effect whatsoever In fact I would say the reverse, when I reported posts as spam I had an increase in the spam received, so stopped reporting them as spam, just discarded them and the spam seemingly decreased Nivard Ovington in Cornwall (UK) On 12-Apr-18 6:01 PM, Lynne Klein wrote: > Yes, can do, but it would be better if we could add spammer addresses > to a RootsWeb spam filter. >

Well. Now if there was a script that could catch how spam is sent would be the miracle of spam watch dog's. Or. Rw could use some other way of running message that are not email e.g. bbs . As admins. It is our choice to do what we need and good question Lynne. Thats one of those great and universal questions we all keep asking. Problem is. As I wrote. Rather than focus on the email addresses focus on how they are sent. I have never seen any evidence that reporting spammers addresses to rootsweb had any effect whatsoever In fact I would say the reverse, when I reported posts as spam I had an increase in the spam received, so stopped reporting them as spam, just discarded them and the spam seemingly decreased Nivard Ovington in Cornwall (UK) On 12-Apr-18 6:01 PM, Lynne Klein wrote: > Yes, can do, but it would be better if we could add spammer addresses to > a RootsWeb spam filter. >
