I'm still very uncomfortable with the manner in which the addresses currently on SmartList reject lists are being treated during the mass migration to Mailman. Here's why... Let's say I have 10 addresses on reject but subbed to the list and I moderate their posts. Mary is a good list member but I just can't trust her to post on topic. Joe has the nasty habit of sending chain letters to everyone in his address book including the lists--so I can't trust him not to be moderated either. Susie is a valuable lookup responder on the list but I can't trust her to only send replies that are on-topic for the list--and on and on as to the reasons these ten people are on the reject list but still subbed to the list. Along comes the migration and unsubs and BANS all ten of these people. Let's say I, the admin, am not fully aware that this was going to happen and am not paying full attention. Susie, Joe, and Mary and the other 7 suddenly realize they are no longer receiving list mail from my list. So they send new subscribe requests. Under the Mailman system--these people will NOT receive ANY notice that their sub request isn't being processed but it won't be--nor will the admin receive ANY notice that the people are trying to subscribe and can't--all because they are on the banned list. This worries me and can only lead to Joe, Susie and Mary and hundreds of other souls just like them swamping the HelpDesk with messages such as "I can't figure out why I'm no longer getting mail from the Timbuktu list and when I try to subscribe nothing happens. What's going on here?" There has gott be a better way. Joan
