He married Martha Jane Moore born 1861 in Mississippi. James and Martha moved to Arkansas around 1885. (My Grandmother always told us the story of their trip across the Mississippi River. A brother to James (NO NAME OF BROTHER)was traveling with them and fell overboard on the ferry crossing the Mississippi. He drowned. Martha was pregnant and thought they would make it to Arkansas before the baby came. Probally because the trip was so rough Cora was born early.
