    3. Found these last night while sifting thru my old Pennsylvania Church Records. I know nothing else about these lines. The year was 1775 St. James Episcopal (Anglican) 18th Century church records from Lancaster County, PA. *On Dec 7, 1775 a James LINDSAY of the 26th Regt. Married a Mary MYERS* Not 1 other LINDSAY in my files, and they're pretty extensive BUT below are the MYERS that I found, spelled as MEYER MYERS MIER(S) ALL 1775 Ann m. on Nov 11 to John FRANCISCUS at St. James Elizabeth on June 13 m. John BEAR, license exists John b Apr 2 m. Anna Maria THERITHINGER, license exists Mary m. John LINDSEY on Dec 7 Ann Oct 17 m. John SMITH Christian (Female) Jan 8 m. John DENNIS Mary May 18th m. Laurence MASKELL Richard on June 21 m. Anne MOOR Susanna March 29 m. Nicholas KIMMEL, published A little history on St. James http://www.lancasterpa.net/photo_tour/historic_buildings/st_james.htm Founded in 1744, St. James Parish is the oldest Episcopal Parish in the County.  In 1753 the first building was completed, sans steeple. In 1761 a cupola was added for the bell. The original church, outgrown by 1820, was torn down and replaced by a red brick structure which is now the central portion of the nave. Its original Georgian style subsequently gave way to the present Lombard-Romanesque architecture with the expansion of the church in the 1870s. The present tower was erected in 1880. St. James' House was built beside the old rectory in  1903. The most recent addition is the arcade, enclosing a garden of greenery, erected in 1961-2.   A tour of the memorial tablets in the sanctuary, and the graves in the ancient, elm-shaded churchyard, reveal the names of such worthies as George Ross, signer of the Declaration of Independence; Capt. Stephen Chambers, Judge Jasper Yeats and ironmaster Robert Coleman, all members of the State Convention which ratified the Constitution of the United States. Also resting here are Edward Shippen, chairman of the Lancaster Committee of Correspondence during the Revolution and Gen. Edward Hand, friend and Adjutant General to George Washington. -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- Chrystie, ROOTSWEB LIST ADMIN.
