I had been trying to find info abt my grandfather John Hanford Lindsey,Pike Co.,AL. Found this info in the 1973 Alabama Historcal Quarterly Vol.XXXV 1973 Nos. 1,2,3, & 4. Originally published by Alabama State Department of Archives & History & reprinted w/their permission by the Pike County Historical & Geealogical Society w/Pike County Alabama Tomb Records,which I just received last week. I already had the 1996 Vol.II Nos. 3 & 4. since I needed to go back further in time for more info on Lindsey,Waltman,Turner,Green,Renfroe. These books & more can be ordered from Karen Bullard Genealogist @ Troy Public Library email: Karen@publiclray,troy.al.us I located John Lindsey+ 1st wife Mary Jane Finger & their childred. and his 2nd wife(my grandmother)Allie Jane(Turner)Lindsey & their children(my mother-Ruby Jane(Lindsey)Waltman,Fred Lee Lindsey & Walter H.Lindsey) + my dad William Mack Waltman, uncle Tip Waltman+ infant Waltman child of Neb & Belsie Lula Waltman from Silas,Choctaw Co.,AL but were in Josie at time of infant Waltman's death(no dates). Had trouble locating Allie & her sisters:Missouri(Turner)Renfroe,Minnie(Turner)Green & husband & Monroe Turner's father:Lee Grant Turner & wife Missouri Turner. Thanks to Debbie who thought she was related via the Green/Turner connection I am on the right path for them. I have actually done really well thanks to the above mentioned books,& friends & or realtives in AL,MS,GA,MN,CA,FL,TX,LA & on via Rootswebb & other message boards. Can't believe all the great luck. Bob Linzey from AL now GA helped & Benny White from CLARKE-L MS rootswebb helped find the Waltman clan from Quitman,Clarke Co.,Ms w/the 1900 census for Clarke Co.,MS + his friend. I couldn't locate Marcillus Waltman & Dora Schrimpshire from MS(my grand parents),my dad,William Mcdonaald(Mack)Waltman ,Lizzie,Neb,Lum,Florence(Flo),Emma,Claudy B.,Tip,Rowena(there were 13 total don't know if some died at birth or later. W.W.Waltman(my great grandfather &great grandmother)Elizabeth Burt,dau/o Ellison Burt & Barbara Allen Keen & my other great grandparents,Eudora Virginia(Schrimpshire)Waltman's parents:Newton Mcdonaald Brown Schrimpshire & Mary Ann Mahala Sykes. + from marriages,Lightfoot,Alexander,Raines,Collins,Cato,etc. The books,above helped w/Waltmans from MS in AL,Ga,FL,etc. I"ve tried to help othes when possible because any little detail can sometimes open a whole new road.
