I would like info to obtain the Lindsey book also. Thank you. Sandra Lindsey Thompson South Carolina
ok,it has taken me 40 yrs to find out who my family is...3 more days for the name of a book won't be so hard to waite on,i am just so very curious to find my Birth Roots...lol thank you Keith. Dotty
My Lindsey book was published in 1963, so it s almost 40 years out of date, but has great information as to my family roots. I don't know if the book would still be available to purchase. Thomas G. Lindsey was my great great grandfather. My great grandfather was William Lindsey who served on the first legislature of the state of Oklahoma. Grandfather Bruce Monroe Lindsey. Mother Mamie Jo Lindsey Pearson. Keith Pearson
I don't know of any of this information. Never heard of the McCranie family. However, I do have a Lindsey book (The one I got all this information from from my previous email. I will have to look it up. Do you know of the Lindsey Book? I have pictures too. I also know this group came from Scottland in the late 1600's. The last name I have from the group was James Lindsey born in 1700 and married a Sarah Daniels. They had 5 sons and 1 daughter. One of the sons was John Lindsey who married Sarah Walker who had the Thomas Lindsey who married Hester Clark. -----Original Message----- From: Philip Lindsey [mailto:galloglas@pars.net] Sent: Thursday, April 19, 2001 12:02 PM To: LINDSEY-L@rootsweb.com Subject: Re: [LINDSEY] Ruth Ann Dunn-Lindsey/Lindsay Can someone clear up a question? I show multiple references of Thomas Lindsey (married to Hester "Little Grannie" Clark) as having been killed by Indians in Georgia in 1816 or 1818. If true, he could not have moved with the McCranie's in 1825. Unless, of course, Hester married another Thomas Lindsey (not impossible). Also, I have found a cluster of Lindseys in northern Alabama who served in the War of 1812. The given names (in my own search) are cause for excitement; they are John, Elijah and Thomas. These men are listed in a roster of men near Huntsville, Alabama, and served in the same unit. If anyone has these Lindseys, I would greatly appreciate hearing from them. i would like more info on that book as well,as i was adopted and have no family history other then my Grand Mother's maiden name.
From what I have been able to find out, Sophronia Lindsey was disowned by her family when she married J.M. Wright
This one died in 1933 and is buried at Rose Hill Cemetery in Hope, AR
Do you have a date for this Sophronia? There is a Sophronia Lindsey who married William Horne Battle and is buried in Battle Cemetery, Anson County, NC. Obviously not the same one, but possibly a daughter. The NC Sophronia was born in 1841, married in 1864, and died in 1905. Who was disowned? and my previous response: hmmm...i wish i could attend these family get togethers but i am not able to at this time.so if there is anyone on this list who knows of my Grand Mother "Willie Blanche Lindsey", she was one of 9 children, one brother and 7 other sisters.I believe they were all born in Arkansas. My Grand Mother Married Joseph Edward Wilcox in 1942,in Monroe County Arkansas. Dotty
The only thing I know about her is she was disowned by her family because she married the overseer of their plantation. Not much to go on. My father's name was Robert Lindsey Massey, and I thought the Robert might have been a family name also.
Sylvia, My Samuel Lindsey was from Virginia too. Do you know if Samuel is related to Sophronia? Les At 08:20 PM 4/18/01 -0500, you wrote: >Does anyone have record of a Sophronia Lindsey, from VA?
