What Lindsey's are you interested in? My Lindsey family was originally from Sevier County but my gg-grandfather, Andrew Jackson Lindsey, moved to Jefferson County. I'm not sure if the other Lindsey's found in Jefferson County are related to him. ----- Original Message ----- From: <DCarter111@aol.com> To: <LINDSEY-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Tuesday, July 03, 2001 5:52 PM Subject: [LINDSEY] Lindsey in Tennessee > I am researching the Lindsey family of Tennessee, especially Jefferson > County. Debbie and Darlene, I'd also like information on any TN Lindsey family, my mother's ancestors. My Lindsey is Margaret Angleine Lindsey (b. 29 Aug 1828 in Lawrence Co. TN; d. 8 Aug 1862 Lawrence Co., TN of typhoid). She was the daughter of William Lindsey (no other info on him) and Mary Unknown (no other info). She married Allen H. Bryan (b. 5 Jan 1822 Giles Co., TN; d. 4 July 1862, also of typhoid). They lived in the fork of Factory and Shoal Creek in Lawrence Co. and raised seven children, dying when the youngest was five. The children were: Mary E., Jacob A., Sarah A., William Silas, James Monroe, Louisa Jane, and Mattie Naomi. Any information on this family's roots, siblings, etc. would be appreciated. Many of their progeny still live in the Lawrenceburg, St. Jospeh TN area.
I am researching the Lindsey family of Tennessee, especially Jefferson County. Would love to correspond with anyone from that line or anyone with info on that line. thanks so much. darlene

Hi Denise, Could you possibly give me information on David Lindsey, who immigrated to VA. I am trying to track down ancestry for my Samuel Lindsey who was born in VA and hopefully this is part of it. Raymond? Gabbie? ;) I have two separate dates for his birth. 1st date is December 1, 1773 and the 2nd date is March 15, 1775. He died in Clermont County April 15, 1855, in Clermont County and is buried at Mt. Pisgah Cemetery, Clermont County, Ohio. His wife Barbary (often times referred to as Barbara) was born: December 12, 1788 in Somerset County, Pennsylvania. She died on March 23, 1875 Clermont County, Williamsburg, Ohio and is also buried at Mt. Pisgah Cemetery, Clermont County, Ohio. I have the father of Edmond Lindsey as Edmond/Edward Lindsey born about 1750 in Lancaster, PA, died about 1816 in Newberry, South Carolina, mother's name Mary "?". I have John W. Lindsey (Edmond and Barbary's son) born November 17, 1810 in Ohio and died February 26, 1896 also buried at Mt. Pisgah Cemetery. John's wife is given as Charrah French (from New York) with one son listed as David Lindsey born about 1842 per 1880 census with spouse Rebecca "?" (also from New York) and son Harry Lindsey born about 1874. ***** Please understand that all of my proof from my gggrandmother Ida Hawkins/Fisher back to Edmond and Barbary (my gggg grandparents) is only through history books, census records, and files form either the internet or other people. I still have to find the actual source documents for Ida Hawkins and Joseph Fisher, Mary Ann Lindsey and William Hawkins, Edmond Lindsey and Barbary Fisher. I am hoping to find the death certificates as well as some of the other documents this summer to verify the information. Edmond and Barbary's Children per the Clermont County 1980 History Book page 182: Susannah, John W., Edmond, Mary Ann (my line), David, Nancy S., Elizabeth Jane and Cynthia You should also understand that some of the records may be in Hamilton County or Brown County which is another reason that they are not so easy to find. I am hoping with all of the new information I have gathered this year that I will be able to find the needed documents this summer if God is willing. Please let me know if you feel that this is also your family line. I was also hoping that someone out there had documents for their births, but I have not heard from anyone. Yours, Donna ;)

Every trail I follow is covered up with Johns, Williams, James and Davids but none, so far, has been a good fit for GGGF John Lindsey who married Susannah May in Warren County Georgia in 1815. If anyone has run across this trail I'd appreciate any help you can offer. Bill Lindsey whlindsey@earthlink.net
Denise, I have a David Lindsey born about 1720 from Scotland that was married to Mary Flemming born about 1723. I know that there is a family tree file on him at the Clermont County Library that was documented with the LDS Family History Center by Dr. Miller. I did not know at that the time I was searching that he was part of my family tree. I hope to visit the library this coming week since we are headed home and should be there by tomorrow night (God willing). Could you please send me ANY information about the David Lindsey that you listed in your post to the mailing List? I would be very grateful. Suzi, My John W. Lindsey was born in Ohio (on November 27, 1810) as was his son David (Born abt. 1842 per Ohio Census and CC 1980 History Book). He was married to a Charrah French who was from New York. His parents were Edmond Lindsey and Barbaray Fisher (born in Somerset County, Pennsylvania), daughter to Adam Fisher Jr. a Revolutionary War Hero. Edmond was born in Newberry District, South Carolina. I think we probably don't have a match though I wish we did. There are so many Lindsey's and they were all over the place to boot so it is really fun chasing them. I have been looking for a connection for Sarah Jane Lindsey it seems like forever but I have yet to find her. I am hoping to find her on the census records when I get home to Ohio for the summer. I will keep and eye out for him. Yours, Donna ;)
Donna, I am tracing a John W. Lindsey from SC - where?? your guess is a good as mine. He had a son David born in 1815 in SC then he moved to GA where he remarried an Elizabeth Williams. He died we think before 1830. I found a John on theYork 1820 census but there are several Johns in the SC area at that time. Any ideas???
