My sister had wrote a post as well on here, which I had not even realized, but this is it: Hello everyone, I posted this once before in a different way. Now that I see somewhat how the list works I wanted to refraise my inquiry. Does anyone know where or how I would begin to search the area of Longeaton, Derbyshire records (parish, census, church)? I really don't know where to begin. I am new to genealogy and am starting with the hardest lost link (I'm determined to find his home!). I am searching for William LIDELL (could have different spellings) who came to US around 1780 with Major John TUNNICLIFF (father was John Tunnicliff who was first settler of Town of Exeter, NY also from Longeaton, Derbyshire). William LIDELL b. 1752. William and most of his family is also missing from Otsego Co. NY census records in 1810 and 1820 and died before the 1830 census. Wondering if possibly he went back to England during that time? If anyone would be willing to point me in the right direction or do some looking up for me I would appreciate it. I would like to find William Lidell's birth, family in England, home). It may be possible that the library here has some records I could research if I just knew where to get started. Heather Barber I do not have much of the information myself, but my mother has been researching Lidells for years and she has actually been to Schuyler Lake and has a lot of information from Mr. Stoltenberg (can't remember for sure his spelling) and kin who lives and/or lived there.
