    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Surnames: Lydall, Lydel, Lydell, Liddle, Liddell Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/YQw.2ACEB/178.2.2.2 Message Board Post: Hi, Dale-- For some reason, I was not notified of your posting by A.C. but I'm getting awfully interested in these rouge Liddells of the far north. Marrying to get there? Either that or escaping the religious turmult associated with Scotland at several times. Right now, I'm flat of my back because of this nearly four-day-long nonservice by Yahoo for half or more of each day. Don't know what is happening, luckily I have downloaded nearly all my files there. They reported are profitable, so??? PLEASE GO LOOK AT the Scotland article in the 1911Encylopedia posting. A good site to get to this is www.landmark-project.com. This is the Encylopedia Britannica--and the 1991 edition is supposed to be the best encyl ever produced. The Scotland article is nearly 40 small-type pages long but if you will pick up about where Wm de Soulis come back to Scotland in a "filibustering raid" and read forward, you will see his allies, John Baliol, what happened and then the religious war that followed. They almost won but didn't and a group of Presbyterians on the losing side had to flee to Ulster. They then returned during the time of Bonnie Prince C and lost again and had to flee again. There is also a huge history of how the Presby Church literally left the Catholic, even claimed the Keys to the Kingdom. That one article contains nearly everything we need to explain what happened to the Liddells and the beginning of a link up with the de Soulis family. Sorry for writing you here but I can't get into Yahoo for email for the second day in a row. Jim Liddell
