Here is what I have on the children of Samuel and Plotemia: a) Elizabeth "Eliza" (Lewis) Branson (had five children, per Samuel Lewis' 1822-1823 will) b) Nancy (Lewis) Bullington...she had been married previously to a John Harvey, with whom she had five children, per Samuel Lewis' 1822-1823 will) c) John (I suspect that he was the John Lewis who married Sarah Hardy, a daughter of George Hardy) d) Joseph (not sure what happened to him...did he father any children)? e) Samuel, Junior (died in Rutherford Co., TN) f) Jane g) Charles (died by 1808; apparently married Mary Ann High; children included Pleasant Lewis, Larkin Lewis, Jeremiah Lewis and Anne Lewis, per an 1808 Pittsylvania deed) h) Catherine i) William (may have married Mary Clark; moved to Parke City, IN). It also appears that the above John and Sarah (Hardy) Lewis had the younger John Lewis who married Mary "Polly" Hardy on 26 Apr 1803. I also suspect that John and Sarah (Hardy) Lewis had the Charles Lewis who married Martha "Patsy" Nance....and PERHAPS also the George Lewis who married a Miss King (and who had a son named Royal King Lewis). Both this second/younger Charles Lewis, as well as this George Lewis, had a son or grandson with the given name of "Vincent," and there was a man named Vincent Hardy in the Hardy family. The above younger Charles Lewis (born about 1790, per the 1850 census...he moved to Parke City, IN by 1860) who married Patsy, as well as the above George Lewis (born about 1772, per the 1850 census; died after 1860), appeared on the 1850 Pittsylvania Co., VA census. The "family history" is that Samuel Lewis had three brothers, and they were named Azariah, Benjamin and Isaac. Two of these brothers moved to SC, but Samuel (and, presumably, one of the brothers) remained in VA. I do not know at this time which brother of Samuel remained in VA, nor do I know if that brother married and/or fathered any children. Comments/questions? Has any male Lewis from this overall Lewis family joined the Lewis DNA testing project? My wife is a Lewis, and she is apparently out of the line of the above John Lewis who married Sarah Hardy, via their son John Lewis who married Mary "Polly" Hardy (and via their son William Lewis who married Sarah Owen...married 3 Nov 1845 in Halifax Co., VA).
