Fred,  I think I know which Lewis family you are looking for.  Lena (Magdalena) and John are both names in this family, and they settled in the Steuben area after leaving the Amsterdam, NY area.  It's a very large family, and I would need to know the name of one member who would have been born around 1800 to be sure.  Some members were Loyalists and came to Canada, but most stayed in NY.  They intermarried with the Gunsolus family in 2 or 3 generations.  I have been to the Bath area, and there are many lewis graves in 2 cemeteries there.
