    3. Hello, I've posted a new query on the Liverpool List and someone has found a possible birth record for my ancestor, Richard LEWIS. From the 1841 and 1851 census for England, we thought he was born in ~1805 in Shrewsbury, Shropshire, England. This is a record which a researcher found: I G I shropshire-shrewsbury-st julian, Richard lewis, Christened 31/01/1803. Father Thomas Lewis, Mother Harriot I went to www.familysearch.org and looked for Thomas LEWIS born in the mid-1700's. I found at least 20 of them, and there were probably more. It was a very popular name. And they were all born in different towns in Shropshire. There was only one born in Shrewsbury, born 1770, and he had the parents Richard and Ann LEWIS. By the way, my ancestors, Richard and Elizabeth LEWIS were probably married ~1825 in Liverpool, Lancashire, England. Their 7 children were born there from ~1827. Their first 2 children were Ann and Sarah, then they had 5 sons, William, John, Charles, Henry, and Richard. My gr-gr-grandfather was John LEWIS in Liverpool until he died ~1871. I'm just curious if anyone else is researching the Thomas LEWIS's born in County Shropshire, England. (I just listed the Thomas LEWIS' born in mid-1700's in County Shropshire on the Shropshire List. There were probably more that I didn't get to, yet.) Betty (near Lowell, MA, USA) (As I've mentioned before, John LEWIS, seems to have had only one child, son, John "Stanley" LEWIS, born Dec. 1859 Liverpool. After his parents both died, he went to the Blue Coat School, and then to the "Liverpool Sheltering Homes." From there, in 1874, he was "shipped to Canada" as a "child migrant.") FYI: Just a reminder that there was a Thomas LEWIS born ~1590 in Shrewsbury, Shropshire, England, who married Elizabeth, and headed to "the new world." Probably in 1620's he went to the MA Bay Colony and settled in Saco, Maine. It would be interesting to find out if my Richard LEWIS born a century later in same town was somehow related to that Thomas.
