These families settled Petersburgh, NY together. A search on FamilySearch.org for Leonard Lewis b1800, NY will I think find Amasa's father and grandparents, cousins Uriah and Mary Lewis. Uriah was born in Hopkinton RI (Lewis City) in 1771. His parents were Abel Lewis and Thankful Maccoone. Though some info on FamilySearch is suspect, I think this sounds accurate.
