Michael Cook's Pioneer Lewis Families Vol III shows my Robert N Lewis' early home on the Mississippi River in Fulton County KY just across the KY line from where they lived later in what is now Lake County TN. This Fulton County was, as you know, named after Robert Fulton who, with fellow Pennsylvanian and your kin Robert Livingston, designed and built the first steamboat to travel the Mississippi River. The county was formed from Hickman County in 1845 and, I assume, named for Mr. Fulton for the impact he had on commercial shipping in the area. Just upriver is Livingston County Ky which was named after your Robert Livingston. So both Fulton and LIvingston may have spent some time there, and this new shipping may have been what attracted my Meriweathers and Lewises to the area in the first place.
