They belong to Col Andrew Lewis of Point Pleasant. Col Andrew Lewis was not related to the Lewis family of Meriwether Lewis but he was related to the Meriwether family of Meriwether Lewis. Does that make sense? My family built boats in Pittsburgh in the late 1700's. I believe this Lewis family were the boat builders for Meriwether Lewis. John Fitch the first inventor of the Steamboat says in his book that Alexander Lewis in 1889 had the Patent on the shallow draft heavy duty keelboat. It was issued to him by Thomas Jefferson. Here I have been trying to figure out how Alexander Lewis was related to Meriwether Lewis through the known Lewis family of Meriwether Lewis. It's the other way around. Then Robert Fulton was not the inventor of the steam boat. He was the person who actually made it work well enough to ship fright and passengers.
