You are missing out on so much new information on the Couch family. The new tools we have today do not even compare with what was used or availiable in the "old days". DNA testing has been the best tool in proving a family line. The inter-net can connect you to a new found family in mintues. Pick up a telephone & say "Hi, new found cousin". Jump in a car or airplane in a matter of hours you can see your new found cousins, face to face. & become life long friends. Geneology has changed, documentation & sources are very important to them. They don't want to hear about the family stories. because now we know most had little truth. They are what they are just family stories. Last summer the Couch clan of DNA Group # 5 meet for 5 days in Hillsbough Orange co NC. We were shown the new early family of Couch's of early 1700's. And when I say new because this was this first time the family finally came together. The old days, this researcher had this set of children, another researcher had some here & there. Nothing was right. Till today. We walked the land belonging to our Couch families, where the Couch boys jump on their horses & warned the town folks Cornwallis is in the area. We walked the old cemetary where they are buried. We were shown how Capt. Couch of the "The Palms" leaving London, sailing to Barbados, then Africa, then Charleston & back to London with his trade goods. How at each port was a family member in charge of the company office. We were shown how & where the family migrated across the United States. What surprized me more than anything, was how many people there had the old KY Couch materials. Thinking they were from John Couch of KY. No sources/documentation ever listed. The old guys did good for what they had to work with, but, NOW we know it is not correct. Sadly, most of the old guys are now gone. We can not show them their errors that they made. Of course, they thought they were correct, but, now we know they were NOT. The Couchs wanted to get a conversation with you, but they see now that won't happen. http://www.couchgenweb.com/ You don't get to meet Bill Couch of Tx who has taken it up himself to document all the Couch Dna across the world. You don't get to meet Ron, Roger, Holt & Marion of the DNA of the Kentucky Couch roots men of today, http://www.couchgenweb.com/couch/DNAtest.htm You don't get invited to The My Family Site Couch Summit, to see new interesting finds. You don't get invited to the 3 days of the next Couch Summit in the Ole 96 District next summer. You are just missing out on so-o-o much. That Orange Co NC Dec 1783 does NOT belong to John Couch of Ky. It was the whole foundation for the family & it came tumbing down. I am not mis-guide, or have the the mixed up material. You stick with your family stories & I will find the truth. I am very very sorry for you, because it's your loss, not mine. vic
