    3. Ok here is the brief bit of information I send out to start with. If you think there is any connection after this, please contact me at sandyburnham@woh.rr.com. I am Sandra K. Burnham (Lewis). I was born and raised in Dayton, Ohio. I now live in Centerville, a suburb south of Dayton. My father was Robert E. Lewis born 6/7/1918, died 12/24/1967, born and lived and died in Dayton, Ohio. Married Kathryn M. Dice His father was Herman C. Lewis born 6/19/1891, died 1/15/1982. Raised in Mansfield, OH. Later lived and died in Spencer, IN. Married Georgia D. Smith. His father was Fred Lewis born 9/1869. Lived in Sulphur Springs, OH. Born in Shelby, OH. Died in Mansfield, OH. Married Martha (Mattie) Harman. His father was Jacob Lewis born 2/22/1846, died 2/5/1942. Born in Shelby, OH. Died in Shelby, Ohio. Married Amanda Knouse. His father was William Lewis born 5/7/1820, died 10/22/1893. Lived in Carroll, OH. Died in Manhattan, KS. Married Mary Ann Brubaker, then her sister Sarah Jane Brubaker. His father was Joseph Lewis born born around 1794, died 1/6/1873. Born in Westmoreland County, PA. Died in Butler, IN. Married Elizabeth Masters from England. His father supposedly was Jonathan, who some records say came from Germany. My brother has had the Family Tree DNA testing done and our Lewis line is definitely from Wales. So, I don’t know about this Jonathan information. I’ve seen records that he was born in PA too. This is where I’m stuck. I’ve never been able to figure out where they were before PA. The Family Tree DNA testing did put us in Group #10, and I’ve had email discussions with a Michael Lewis who has some family stuff going on in Westmoreland County, PA too. A lot of near matches, but not really. He thinks our families were related, like cousins or something way back, but we can’t prove anything. -----Original Message----- From: lewis-bounces@rootsweb.com [mailto:lewis-bounces@rootsweb.com] On Behalf Of Llew Llaw Sent: Thursday, July 02, 2009 7:03 PM To: lewis@rootsweb.com Subject: Re: [LEWIS] Lewis DNA Data > Are Floyd/Pike counties? Richland perhaps, and I know that some moved up to Ohio, since my Honey's ex-hubby is descended from a Lewis from Floyd, and he's from Chesapeake.   Let me know if you think > there is a tie-in and I'll > send you more info. I'd appreciate it if you do it anyway, I'll check and see where it goes! For the sake of the discussion here, a couple of questions: What is your brother's name in the Family Tree DNA tests? How does your brother's DNA test indicate your Lewis line is from Wales? The Lewis Surname DNA project Group #10 does not have a Wales connection. Furthermore, I don't place a lot of stock in the the group designations, as they seem somewhat arbitrary and capricious. I have a 100% match in Group #9 and my test results have never been added to that group. The family group your mention is the descendants of Jacob Lewis, brother of Zephaniah Lewis from Basking Ridge, NJ. I have this line well documented from a 1643 Bible with family inscriptions from this line. Interestingly, the towns line up with your family history, though the times are off set a bit. Surely some connection there, but as yet, we've been unable to puzzle them out! Michael

    3. Hello! I think you must be a different Michael Lewis that I had been communicating with. The Michael Lewis I had been speaking with, is also in Group #10. -----Original Message----- From: lewis-bounces@rootsweb.com [mailto:lewis-bounces@rootsweb.com] On Behalf Of Michael Lewis Sent: Friday, July 03, 2009 11:42 AM To: lewis@rootsweb.com Subject: Re: [LEWIS] Lewis DNA Data On Jul 3, 2009, at 6:59 AM, Sandy Burnham wrote: > Ok here is the brief bit of information I send out to start with. > If you > think there is any connection after this, please contact me at > sandyburnham@woh.rr.com. > > My brother has had the Family Tree DNA testing done and our Lewis > line is > definitely from Wales.
