Matching their results would not prove that a descendant descended from Meriwether, but it would prove beyond any reasonable doubt that the participant descended from the same ancestor that Meriwether and the others descended from, i.e., the progenitor from Wales. Most researchers believe this was John Lewis of Monmouthshire and Poropotanck Creek, Va.
