I am seeking confirmation (1) In 1883, in a biographical sketch of Dr. Iral L Brown of Montgomery County, Indiana, we find the following uncle described: Elijah, who as born in Kentucky came to this county in 1831, married Sarah Lewis at the crossing of the Raccoon, and subsequently farmed in Boone County until his death. The Browns in question start in Virginia, then move to Floyd/Perry County Kentucky ca 1800 and stay there until some of the family moved to Indiana in about 1830. (2) Ancestry.com database on Kentucky Marriages shows Abijah Brown marrying Sarah Lewis on May 11, 1821. It is in a section entitled "early Floyd County marriages". (3) The 1850 census records for Boone County IN show a family of Abijah Brown, b VA ca 1797, Sarah b NC ca 1805, Elizabeth b. KY ca 1822 and younger children born in IN. In the 1860 census, we find a family in Howard County IN: Abigal Brown b Va ca 1797, Sarah born NC ca 1805, Elizabeth b KY c 1821 and younger children born in KY including Regina Brown born 1853. In 1870, in Howard County, mo Abigal or Abijah Brown but a household of Sarah Brown b ca 1805 that include a female R V Brown b 1853. (4) Several family trees on ancestry.com show that an Abisah Brown marries Sarah Lewis, with a daughter Regina Victoria born in Converse Indiana who marries a Levi Mccormick on April 15, 1871 Ancestry.com databases show this marriage occurred in Howard county, Indiana Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
