We (my sister LaFaye and I) are descended from John Lewis, planter, of Albemarle County, VA. I think this is the John Lewis you are referring to. We did the DNA through our cousin and it is in Group I of the Lewis DNA Project. He did not have a son named David though. His sons were John and Owen as put forth in his will. Owen was my 4th great grandfather. John Lewis, the Emigrant had three sons. Edward, the youngest son to the Emigrant, married Mary Morgan and moved to the Northern Neck. They had a son named John who dissapears from the record, although Farnam parish has a death record for a John Lewis, I do not think it is Edward's son. It is possible that this missing John is John Lewis the planter. However no proof has been uncovered and is unlikely to be uncovered. Watch out for DNA. Although it is useful, a DNA mismatch does not mean two people are leagally unrelated. Adoption, Adultury, Lab Error, and the fact that a small percent of males have two DNA's. One that you get from a mouth swab and the other is passed on in their sperm.
