Graveside funeral services with military honors will be held at Main Post Cemetery in Fort Benning, Ga. Visitation will be at the Striffler-Hamby Mortuary in Macon, Ga. The family will also receive friends at the Fort Benning Masonic Lodge immediately following the graveside services. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Scottish Rite Children's Medical Foundation Atlanta, GA. Mr. Lewis was born Sept. 17, 1930, in Lone Tree, Iowa, the son of Blanche Lewis of Muscatine and the late Charles Edward Lewis. He graduated from Muscatine High School in 1949 and attended Iowa Wesleyan College on a football scholarship. As a veteran of the U.S. Army, his 22 years of service included two tours of duty in Vietnam. Following his retirement as a chief warrant officer, he made his home in Columbus and established a second career in real estate. He was an active member of the Masonic Lodge since 1961; he served at all levels, most recently as the secretary of the Fort Benning Masonic Lodge. Other than his mother, he is survived by his wife, Renate C. Lewis; his children and their spouses, Manfred G. and Linda Lewis, Margaret and Michael Davidson, Terry and William Moore and Diana and Jim Bragg; one grandson, Scott Davidson; and two sisters, Marlene Wilson and Barbara Hjelle. He was preceded in death by his father and two brothers, Harley L. Lewis and Roger E. Lewis, both of Muscatine. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
