Author: grankk902 Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.lewis/12028.3.1/mb.ashx Message Board Post: I looked at other Lewis papers I have & I found that Brackin Lewis b. 1801 NC to Zachariah & Rachel BRACKIN Lewis. Zachariah died in NC and Rachel, his wife, remarried to a Peter Mankins & they(including Brackin) moved to the state of Kentucky about 1809 & lived there until 1834-1835 when they all moved to Arkansas. Brackin was about 34 then. He married a Matilda Preston who was born in Kentucky. So, thus the confusion of where Moses was born. From this it looks like Brackin, his father was born in NC, his mother NC, Moses either KY or Ark, depending on when & where Brackin & Matilda were married. But in the papers I have, it has Moses name as Moses D Lewis, b. KY. In other papers I have somewhere, it says his name is Moses Daniel Lewis b. 1832.
