Hello, How is everyone? I've been on the Lists for ~15 yrs., and have been researching my family-tree for a little over 20 yrs. My mother tried researching it - pre-computer yrs., and I have some of her handwritten notes. So, I had a list of the 13 children of John "Stanley" LEWIS and Mary Elizabeth (CORKILL) LEWIS - my great-grandparents. My father was only a toddler when he lost this set of grandparents, so he never knew them. He tried to keep in touch with this set of uncles & aunts. But, I'm the oldest of 6, and I don't remember that .we. visited them very often. Two of his aunts lived in Winchester, and we did see one of them occasionally. I took on the challenge of trying to find descendants of of these 13 siblings. And, I started posting queries ! Some of my queries go back to the year, 2000, but, believe it or not, both "distant cousins" and "step-cousins" - find them - or come across them ! This just happened this week ! It was not an easy task both learning about the 13 siblings when they were adults, and finding a descendant or 2. Some of the oldest, and some of the youngest were easier than the "middle children." Up to this year, I still had trouble finding a descendant of 2 sisters and 2 brothers. "Frank" and "Eddie" were the brothers, born 1885 and 1887. Mrs. Henrietta HUBER, b1889, and Mrs. Isabella PHELAN, b1890, were the sisters and I could find husband and childrens' names. But, never found a descendant -- until this week ! I just received an e-mail from one member of the PHELAN family. :o) (By the way, I've also heard from descendants of Mary's 3 CORKILL siblings. Her 2 sisters were Julia, who remained in Truro, N.S., and Esther who came down to Nantucket. Their oldest brother went to British Columbia on his own in 1873.) I've posted about these families many times, so there is information in the archives of many Lists and Boards. Hope you're enjoying SPRING ! Betty (near Lowell, MA) (Reminder: "Stanley" and Mary were born in Liverpool, England, ~1860, and ended up at the Liverpool Sheltering Homes. As teens, they became part of the "UK's Children Migrant Scheme." They and Mary's siblings were sent to Halifax, NS. Stanley and Mary found each other and married in 1879. In 1881 they migrated to MA and settled in Stoneham.)
