I may have also found some relevant posts on the Lewis message board over on GenForum, but I don't recall for sure (and maybe even on the Pittsylvania and/or Halifax message boards at RootsWeb and/or GenForum). When I start research on a new surname, I usually check four places first: 1) the surname message board on RootsWeb, 2) the surname message board on GenForum, 3) the relevant county on RootsWeb and 4) the relevant county on GenForum. One post on this overall thread stated that the Charles Lewis who marred Mary Ann High might have been a son of Samuel.....but others seem certain that the Charles who married Mary Ann High was a son of the APPARENTLY unrelated Charles Lewis who died in 1802. It would be nice if someone who believes that he is out of Samuel Lewis would take the DNA test to see if he matches any existing male Lewis donors. As stated above, it now APPEARS to me that the Charles Lewis who married a Miss Nance and who left VA was probably out of Samuel and Plotemia....but not the Charles Lewis who married Mary Ann High and who died about 1808. Also, there was yet another Charles Lewis who wrote his will in 1802, and whose will was then probated in 1805. I would not be too surprised if he was not related to the other two Lewis families mentioned above.....but who knows? Best of luck with your research on Samuel Lewis. Please post whatever you find on him here. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
