    1. [LEWIS] Parents of Lucy Lewis (b. ca. 1727) wife of Job Phelps?
    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Author: DonaldRNewcomb Surnames: Lewis, Phelps, Stanley, Newell Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.lewis/13630/mb.ashx Message Board Post: Sources generally agree that Job Phelps (s. of Nathaniel) married Lucy Lewis about 1750, probably around Westfield, Mass and that they had about 9 children and settled in Granby CT. The problem is that I can't decide which Lucy Lewis married Job Phelps. The prime candidate is the daughter of John Lewis (b. 1693). An alternate candidate is the the daughter of Capt. Jonathain Lewis (b. 1697) and Elizabeth Newell. However, the Newell genealogy (1878) says that this Lucy married Noah Stanley. All of these are undocumented tertiary sources. Does anyone have any hard information on this. Like something based on a will that mentions "my son-in-law, Job Phelps" or something like that. I'm not sure which base he was at. I probably could find out. He suffered from the injuries you descibed. Plus ringing in the ears and finger joints crippled. I know he served under Patton. I'm having a hard time remembering the story off hand. He either was on a half-track or as a foot soldier when he was hit. I think it was the bridge of Normnay. The family of Meriwether Lewis I believe is related to the De Beers Diamond family by a connection of King Frederick Lewis and his wife Augusta. Then there is Meriwether Lewis Clark who married Abby Churchill and this family is from Rochester NY and are buried with the Churchills of Winston Churchill who's mother was from Rochester NY. They lived at 8 Washington Road in Rochester NY. You can try that trail. Just follow Winston's Churchill's actress daughter who decided to live with her grandmothers family in Rochester NY.
