    3. I know the staff at  FTDNA very well as my Mother is a Lewis  and her line has been tested  there and I tested two other family lines there plus my pwn female mtDNA. I have my own page there with my results.   The FTDNA staff are great. i know they will get right on it. I can't say enough good stuff about their staff. They are a good company and this is the first I have heard of this happening there. There are a lot that have tested at FTDNA on the genealogy-dna mailing list and many are admins over other projects there . so everyone has been warned. I am sure FTDNA will let us know when the virus is gone and it is safe.   Marianne Dllow   --- On Tue, 3/3/09, Susan Burgess <suekbee@comcast.net> wrote: From: Susan Burgess <suekbee@comcast.net> Subject: Re: [LEWIS] Trojan Virus at Lewis DNA Project at FTDNA To: mdillow31@verizon.net, lewis@rootsweb.com Date: Tuesday, March 3, 2009, 9:40 PM Thanks Marianne for getting this information to the right people. 3. Just wanted to recommend the following if any are interested.   Avast anti-virus is free and pretty good.   Malewarebytes (do a google, download and scan computer)   Spybot Search and Destroy (do a google)   Everybody has their own way of doing it but that is how I do it.  The three are free and do a pretty good job of keeping you clean.    Good luck   J.Lewis --- On Tue, 3/3/09, marianne dillow <mdillow31@verizon.net> wrote: From: marianne dillow <mdillow31@verizon.net> Subject: Re: [LEWIS] Possible computer virus at the LewisProjectDNA site To: lewis@rootsweb.com Date: Tuesday, March 3, 2009, 8:55 PM I just posted the Trojan virus on the genealogy-dna mailing list as others on that list have Projects too at FTDNA. 3. This is based at Family Tree DNA based in Houston. Since Janet Crain is Adm over the Lewis Project I am sure she is working with FTDNA personnel to get this corrected. I have tested there too on several of my lines.  They take this very seriously so I would think they are working on it.  I am on the genealogy-dna mailing list. I will report it there too.   Marianne Dillow    --- On Tue, 3/3/09, Susan Burgess <suekbee@comcast.net> wrote: From: Susan Burgess <suekbee@comcast.net> Subject: [LEWIS] Possible computer virus at the LewisProjectDNA site To: LEWIS@rootsweb.com Date: Tuesday, March 3, 2009, 8:28 PM Just wanted to let people know my computer got 4 very bad Trojan viruses when I went to the Lewis Project DNA site. His father's name may have been Jack, Samuel, James or John. Sam's father when he placing Sam and his brother John and Sister Anna/Annie at the Children's Home in Tippoecanoe Indiana used the surnames Baltimore, Balser, Lewis and Moore to name a few. Through DNA testing we have learned that Sam's real last name was Lewis. My husband has matched men in the Lewis DNA project located at Family Tree DNA. Sam's brother John was born in 1886 and he died in a gun accident on March 5, 1901. Annie or Anna was born 1882 and admitted to the Children's Home in 1893. She was sent to Reform School in 1894. If she did get married she married a Simmons. Sam went by Baltimore because that is the first name his father gave to the Children's Home. His brother and sister may have gone by the same last names as Samuel "Sam". If anyone has information on this family, please email me at jmdgenealogy AT yahoo.com. I would love to hear from you.
