I have very limited information on him. He married Anna Crawford,B: (3-04-1847), March 30, 1873 in Adams County, Illinois. Per census records of 1880 his parents are both from Illinois. William and Anna had seven children, all boys. I have all their info if someone needs it. I've hit a brick wall with him. Tried the DNA thing with no luck. L. Lewis above was MARTIN LEWIS first born child of JAMES LEWIS II (1771NC-1865KY). Martin Lewis born November 23,1794 Ashe Co., NC came to KY with his parents. About Spring of 1820 he left KY on Log Raft with friends and journeyed by raft to the Ohio River at Madison, Indiana. There he and his friends entered Indiana near or at present day MADISON, INDIANA. It appears he married DRUSILLA / Drucilla / DENT b.abt 1814 - d. abt 1908 Boone Co., Indiana. Their descents have proven only one child, but possibility exists from other unproved claims. There are 3 children claimed and 2 are unproven: from 1831 to 1836. Other persons claims are 5 children born from 1836 thru 1852. He mustered out of the Civil War in 1865 at Fort Leavenworth, KS. I have them on the census in Kapioma Township, Atchison County in 1870 and 1880, though it appears that Frances was apparently called Alice in the 1880 census. Their daughter Mary was born in Valley Falls in January of 1870. I have Frances passing away in Atchison County sometime before 1885. The 1880 census refers to her as Alice, age 36 born in Indiana, with parents being born in Kentucky(F)and Virginia(M). Alex and Frances' kids Mary Lois, Frank and Lilly Jane were born in 70, 74 and 77 respectively. I'm just fishing for any help or direction I might get in order to find Frances. AH made the run into the Cherokee Strip in the Oklahoma Territory in 1892. Mary married Josiah Anderson Sunderland 26 JAN 1887 in Atchison County, but it looks as if she had left the area by 1891. I've looked high and low and it would mean a lot if I c! ould find Frances (Alice) Reed's grave and/or where she came from. I appreciate any help anyone can offer. Please contact me by email. This is your cousin Barton Lewis. I wrote you a letter in April but addressed it to Kathy Walker in Joliet. I don't know if that is you or not. I wanted to ask you if your brother Jack would take a DNA test -- that is one surefire way of proving whether we are connected to the Lewis of Warner Hall family or not. Either way, a test result could help us refocus our efforts. Our cousins Jeanne Bedwell and LouAnn Frogge and I are trying to verify the contents of the Aunt Jenny claims.
