Looking for Bishop Lewis (b. 1821? CT) descendants in CO. He was b. in CT moved to Candor, NY Then to Il, Iowa (married) had a couple of girls Then on to CO and homesteaded was a dairy farmer or milkman in Denver at one time. One dau. was a school teacher. Can't find papers with all of the names and dates today. Hope someone recognizes the name. The other dau married and had children. Her husband had cattle. She was very artistic and taught her family how to crochet and make quilts. She was a member of the Temple Anshe Hesed. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Harry Lewis who died in 1963 and her second husband, Dr. Milton Link who died in 1994. A daughter, Rhonda Braunstein who died in 1999. In the 1880 Federal Census of Benton CountyArk. Joel H. Identifies himself & children as Indian... Margaret Jane, his wife, did not indicate her Nationality, [ but both of her parents were full blood German.] From the 1880 Federal Census, Benton County, Arkansas - Shows Joel born in La. Father NC and his mother, born in Ga. Joel H. Lewis died Tuesday morning while on his way to Siloam Springs, where he was to have made final proof on his homestead. I just learned my Thomas F. Lewis was born in louden (loudes), franklin co. pa. b. 1827 d. 1874 in hancock, MD. I do not have siblings or parents for him, but would love to find a connection.
