    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Author: LSPEGAL Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.lewis/12215/mb.ashx Message Board Post: I don't know if anyone out there is researching the name Lewis in Claremont area, but I have a few photos of Anna L. Lewis (daughter of Benjamin A. Lucia ____ LEWIS), she was the niece of Henry C. NEVERS and family and that is how she's related to me. I'd be willing to scan photos and send copies to anyone related, or mail copies- I'd only ask for postage. Anna apparently never married, so she wouldn't have any direct descendants, however she could still be connected. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. 1. [LEWIS] Couch marriage record
    2. V Williams
    3. Mary Couch Patterson left her estate in Feb 1796 in Orange Co NC to the children of John Couch and Betsy dec'd.  The only John Couch and Elizabeth marriage is the one of John Couch to Elizabeth Campbell. The children were Mary, Letitia, July, Elenor, and Elizabeth. John Couch married Susanna Smith Oct 25, 1799 in Mecklinburgh Co, Va. His will in July 1823 lists his heirs as wife Susannah, son John S or T and daughters Letty, Polly (Mary), Jullia, Ealinor, and Elizabeth. This has to be the same John Couch. 5  daughters with the same names could not be coincidental. This proves that THIS John Couch did not go to Kentucky.     This marriage record of Dec 1783 in Orange Co  does NOT belong to John Couch of Perry Co. Ky.   Vic

DNA is not even close. 3 men tested from John Campbell of Perry co Ky & they stand alone in their group. meaning Patrick Campbell is no way their father. ****And why then would I want Patrick's family history?***** Too many myths in the story of Couch Boon Campbell saga. John:  how would a 500 lbs man of today or in 1700's climb aboard that wagon? that 5oo lbs is what the wagon could carry, not the drivers weight. Just like today a 3/4 or a 1/2 ton pick-up. And no way is the Couch/Campbell marriage in Orange Co Nc belong to the C/C of Perry Co. I say John Couch married once & that was to Mary Boon.........until I see some proof of another marriage.   Maybe Eliz James untill proof....& no relation to Jesse !!!! No Daniel Boone connection. Author: trailseekJPS Surnames: LEWIS, HENSON, BAKER, CALHOUN Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.lewis/2273.2/mb.ashx Message Board Post: Your JAMES LEWIS with a birth of 1862 or 1863 era is probably the son of GIDEON LEWIS & SALLY BAKER d/o John Jackson Baker (1792NC -1887KY)& Mary(polly)Campbell. They married, and then Gideon & Sarah moved to 'Little Sandy' Morgan Co., Kentucky. Your JAMES was born before the creation of LESLIE County in 1878. No one todate had found census records of your JAMES to publish or post in discussion lists on Rootsweb mail lists. Can you enlighten all of us LEWIS researchers about your JAMES LEWIS and wife ELIZABETH CALHOUN? I can tell you that JAMES was born on lands that became LESLIE COUNTY, KY. In addition: Gideon LEWIS born 1825 (on lands of Clay County that became LESLIE County, KY) was s/o THADDEAUS LEWIS 1785 NC and MARY (Polly) ROARK 1785 NC, as their 7th child. THAD was s/o James T. Lewis 1735 Wales - 1825 KY and WINEDERY(winnie)HENSON 1764 NC - 1825 KY. 'Winnie' was second wife of James T. Lewis, and was daughter of Paul Henson the neighbor of James when he lived in Ashe County NC and in need of a wife, after DEATH of his first wife mother of his first three children were born in NC. All other children were borne by 'Winnie' Henson Lewis. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. My father (Martin Couch b. 1785 Ashe Co.,NC ) came to KY from New River on Holston" --------- "Old John Campbell's (b. 1792) wife my father's sister, James Lewis's wife was another". "My father also had Another brother James, whose son lives in Clay Co.,"Stutter'' John. "My mother was SALLY HALL aunt of Phillips Hall."
