Author: MichaelLewis39 Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.lewis/7830.1.1/mb.ashx Message Board Post: Good Morning, The actual landing by the LEWIS' in New Brunswick (c. 1784/5) was in St. John. I believe this is one of several entry ports from re-patriated American colonists who supported the English crown during the Revolutionary War. My LEWIS' lived in one of three possible locations: Odelltown, St. John, or most likely, Gagetown (which I have records documenting residence). Do you have LEWIS' from there? Author: MichaelLewis39 Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.lewis/12078.2.1.1/mb.ashx Message Board Post: Cindy, Thank you for your reply. Can you elaborate more on the undocumented information you have on Thomas LEWIS? I have a copy of an old Bible page which shows several LEWIS' with birth dates, etc. Will type up a list and send it to you. Regarding Morris, do you know if he arrived in Canada on a ship named the "Sally"? I have a record which shows three LEWIS' sailing out of Dutchess Co. to Canada in 1784 or 1785. Lastly, how much LEWIS information do you have on those who lived in/around Dutchess Co., NY? Any information you might have may well help me establish a lineage from James LEWIS (b. Nov. 1801) back through Thomas LEWIS (born abt. 1760). Incidentally, one of James LEWIS' daughters was named Rachel (probably not coincidental if his father married one...and names are reused frequently). Thanks again - Michael Lewis Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
