I just figured out that our llewellyns go back to Alexander, b.1741 Charles Parish , York County . may be the same one? From what I know for sure, I've possibly researched back to him. My Daddy's grand-dad was John Armistead Llewelling, great g-dad; John W Llewelling, son of William P. Llewelling. What I've recently found online:Wm P's dad-James (d.1828 yr after Wm P born) Sarah Mallicote his mother . James dad was John, b.1772. John was a son of Alexander and Elizabeth, although I found one saying Prudence Sue Clark was Alexander's wife. Please send me an email, or reply to this. I just signed up for temp free trial .Thanks in advance, hope we can help each other. I am truly new to this Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. Author: Kirk_Bobby Surnames: Kirk, Lewelling, Price, Green, Knight Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.lewelling/43.2/mb.ashx Message Board Post: My name is Bobby Kirk. William Robert "Bob" Kirk and Margaret Pernice Lewelling Kirk were my great-great grandparents. Their daughter Martha Catherine had one son, Jesse Andrew Kirk, who was my grandfather. On the 1910 Census he was listed as the son of William and Margaret, but he was their grandson... I assume they claimed him as their son because Martha Catherine wasn't married when she had him...? She was listed as married on the 1900 Census, but all I know is that she married Abram M Sagar at Crawford County in 1896, but he was gone by 1900 - no clue where he went - but he wasn't Jesse's father as far as I know. As far as Rachael Green, I know the 1900 Census has her middle initial as F, but her name was Rachael Minerva Green. She was the daughter of Abednego Green Jr and Winnifred "Winnie" Grizzle of Tuscaloosa, AL. Also, in case you've tried to find it, River Township hasn't existed since the early 1900's. It was split between the current cities of Alma and Dyer, Arkansas. All of the Kirk's except Ella and Emma died by 1918 and they're buried at Paw Paw Cemetery in Sequoyah County, Oklahoma. Ella became Ella Arizona Price, Emma became Emma Malissa Green, and the granddaughter Mary Allen became Mary Knight. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. Lewelling was Alfred Blevins Lewelling (1920-1996), a son of Lucius Guy Lewelling and Edna R. (Blevins) Lewelling, and a grandson of Asa Lewelling and Amanda V. (Hord) Lewelling. During World War II, "Blev" Lewelling flew in combat in the Pacific with the 9th Fighter Squadron (Flying Knights), 49th Fighter Group, from 1943 to 1945. By several accounts he was an "Ace," with five victories. Morton Air Academy at Gary Field, Blythe, was contracted by the Army Air Corps early in the war to give primary training to Air Corps cadets. Author: countryblu1 Surnames: Lewelling/Clark Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.lewelling/121/mb.ashx Message Board Post: I have been working on this line & I am finding that there are a lot of people who have Prudence's father John Clark with the parents Elijah Clarke & Hannah Arrington Clarke, but this is incorrect, as their daughter married the governor of Georgia & I know that that was no Alexander Lewelling. If anyone has any information of Prudence Clark's family line I would appreciate the help. I have reason to believe that John may have married a Native American, as there are several John Clarks listed on the Rolls. But, I have nothing else to go on except that my grandmother said we had an Indian line, but then most people in East TN & West Carolina have heard this.
