    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Author: l_e_lesher Surnames: Lesher, Loscher, Loescher Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.lesher/279.2.1.1/mb.ashx Message Board Post: The best I have so far on our LESHER family is that 4 brothers came into PA from Germany in the late 1700s. All were farmers from Luneburg area of Germany, but their names were Loescher when in Germany, Americanized in PA, due to the exact same pronounciation. In German it means extinguisher, as in fire extinguisher. There are still farmers with that name in the area. As to the Heinrich Lesher family name from Zweibrucken, Germany and Schaffhausen, Switzerland there is some confusion due to the records management with the name, I think. I am currently living in Stuttgart, Germany about half way between the two. Over the next 2 1/2 years, I hope to find more information here in Germany and Switzerland.
