He married Rosina Dunkel in 1756 and had three children: John Johannes (1756-1804) Magdalena (1756-1804) and Catherine (1758-). I have his father listed as John Nicholas Lesher. I have John Nicholas Lesher's wife as Eva Binder (1700-1762). Is this the Col John Nicholas, as when I research him I find his spouse was Maria Yoder were the parents of John, Jacob, Barbara, Hannah, Maria, Catharine and Elizabeth. "Col." John Lesher was a 'Colonel' in the Revolutionary War. Col. John married Marie Margaret Hess after the death of his first wife, Maria. I need to confirm who the parents are of Vincent Lesher and who is John Lesher his son. Did he marry Eva Binder? I'm confused, but I need to check the accuracy of my family tree. All were farmers from Luneburg area of Germany, but their names were Loescher when in Germany, Americanized in PA, due to the exact same pronounciation. In German it means extinguisher, as in fire extinguisher. There are still farmers with that name in the area. As to the Heinrich Lesher family name from Zweibrucken, Germany and Schaffhausen, Switzerland there is some confusion due to the records management with the name, I think. I am currently living in Stuttgart, Germany about half way between the two. Over the next 2 1/2 years, I hope to find more information here in Germany and Switzerland. Author: ShellyH4 Surnames: Brubaker, Lesher, Barncord, Brandt, Sheller Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.lesher/269.1.2/mb.ashx Message Board Post: Would there be any land or will records for this Peter BRUBAKER, husband of Maria LESHER? I am looking to document the information stated by Richard Warren Davis that Abraham and Maria (Lesher) Brubaker had a(n) (unnamed) daughter who married Jacob BARNCORD. She would be of the generation to marry the Jacob Barncord who lived 1792 - 1853 in Franklin County, PA. This could make her the probable mother of Jacob's children NOT the wife, Catherine, who is found with him in 1850 and in his 1853 will. The vast majority of trees identify her as the mother of Jacob's children. Some name her as Catherine Brandt, which brings up the possibility that she is the widow of John Sheller, further evidenced by the Elizabeth Sheller in the Jacob Barncord household in 1850 and in the household of Catherine Barncord, widow of Jacob, in 1860. I hope to find proof or denial of this theory. If you can point me to some record sources, I would be quite grateful. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. He was especially enterested in raising fine blooded livestock, and had a reputation for breeding some of the best horses in the region. He was married to Miss Christiana Mertz, and had eight children: John; Jacob; Sallie, wife of a Mr. Gebhard; Gideon; Polly; Daniel; Thomas and Samuel. Samuel H. Lesher attended the schools of the township and derived much profit from his school work. He belongs to a family of more than ordinary culture and intelligence, and found much help and intellectual stimulus at home.
