I hope we can document a connection. I have conflicting names for my 3rd great grandfather: Nicholas Leister, sometimes referred to as John Leister.. I suspect he was named Johann Nicklaus Leister. He married a woman named Margaretha LINK, and they had several children born in Dalberg and Wallhausen in the 1860s before they came to the USA. I'm not sure if Johann Nicklaus LEISTER made it to the USA or if he died in Europe. I do know that Margaretha came over, as did her sons Bernhard, Nicholas, John and her daughters Elisabeth and Anna Maria. They settled in the Troy Hill neighborhood of Allegheny city, Pennsylvania, which became part of Pittsburgh in 1907. Bernhard came over in 1866 on the S.S. Pennland, and his two brothers followed in 1867 on the S.S. Westernland. I have not located the passage for Margaretha or her daughters, or Johann Niklaus if he indeed did make the trip. (Of course, the brothers that I've mentioned could have made the crossing more than once, but this is all I have found thus far).
